Transition / Youth / Student Services:

The Rehabilitation Division believes that students with disabilities with strong parental support and two or more positive employment/work experiences during their educational processes are likely to become successfully independent and productive members of society and not dependent upon Social Security benefits.

To assist in this process the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and the Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired (BSBVI) will accept referrals of students preferably in the last semester of the junior year or first semester of their senior year, or when "work" has become a primary concern of transition planning.

BVR and BSBVI will assess, plan, develop and provide vocational rehabilitation services for eligible individuals with disabilities, consistent with their strength, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interest, and informed choice, so that such qualified individuals may prepare for and engage in gainful employment.

The Rehabilitation Division will identify staff person(s) as liaison(s) for transition services that promote or facilitate the achievement of employment outcomes as identified in the eligible student's Individualized Plan of Employment (IPE) to check for eligibility requirements.
