American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009  (ARRA)

Information Related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009 includes measures to modernize our nationís infrastructure, enhance energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and protect those in greatest need.  This website contains ARRA funding information provided
by Nevada DETR.
 

Unemployment Insurance

  • Additional $25 for Unemployment Recipients
  • Federal Government to fund State Extended Benefits through
    December 31, 2009
  • Additional $5.5 million of Unemployment Insurance administrative funding for improvements to the systems that provide Unemployment Compensation

Workforce Investment Act  (Learn More)

  • Additional $25 million to the local workforce investment boards to provide training and supportive services to Adults, Dislocated Workers and Youth to assist in their entry or reentry into the job market
  • Summer employment opportunities for youth from May 1, 2009 through September 30, 2009
  • Registered apprenticeship programs that offer adults and dislocated workers a career pathway into specific fields

Rehabilitation

  • Additional $4.2 million to provide services to disabled Nevadans so that they may enter or reenter the workforce

Employment and Reemployment Services

  • Additional $1.3 million to assist Nevadans in One Stop JobConnect offices to secure employment and workforce information through the provision of job search assistance, skills assessment and labor market information
  • Additional $2.1 million to provide career guidance and group and individual counseling to Unemployment Insurance claimants to hasten their return to the workforce

State Energy Sector Partnership Training Grant

  • $6 million to teach workers the skills required in emerging industries, including efficiency and renewable energy.  The grant will be used to create an integrated system of education, training and supportive services that promote skill attainment and career pathway development for low-income, low skilled workers leading to employment in green industries.
